Alongside the base course, the asphalt surface is the most important element of road building and surfacing. Ultimately, the bituminous surface enables the traffic zone to be driven over securely. Asphalt’s inability to absorb the tractive forces introduced without damage has always been one of the main sources of potential damage to asphalt surfaces. Regardless of whether they originate from the road traffic present or as a result of differences in temperature, even low tractive forces cause cracks to form on the top and bottom of asphalt systems.

NovoFi® asphalt fibres can be used for all asphalt surfaces, e.g. surface courses made from asphalt concrete, SMA and open-pore asphalt (low-noise surfaces) as well as for binders and asphalt base courses.
